PR1MA Optimistic Budget 2016 Initiatives Will Help Boost Home Ownership

Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) is optimistic the initiatives announced in the Budget 2016 recalibration on Thursday could further boost home ownership among the country’s middle-income earners.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Abdul Mutalib Alias said, the initiatives like reduction in Employees Provident Fund contribution by employees and up to RM2,000 tax relief to those earning RM8,000 a month and below could provide some form of financial relief for the rakyat.

“Eventually, this will encourage them to set aside the extra cash towards owning a home,” he said in a statement.

Abdul Mutalib said PR1MA was also fully committed and supported the call by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to hold the Jelajah Ekspo Pemilikan Rumah Bersepadu a home-ownership exposition to showcase the various affordable housing programmes of various categories nationwide.

“For the past three years, we have been working and engaging with the state governments to get our projects off the ground.

“We are now ready to show what we have and start selling our homes to our target market. That will be our focus for 2016,” he said.

To date, a total of 74,399 units of PR1MA homes are already in various stages of construction and out of this, 10,000 units of homes are expected to be completed by 2016, he said.
